She is also an author and writes children's books that assist adults in helping kids cope with difficult life experiences, such as a traumatic event, fears or making friends.

    The Healthy App List

    Core Apps

    These are the apps we feel should always be available, as long as their exact use is restricted by mode-switching (e.g. night mode).

    Contacts (6+) - Contacts must be approved by parents or the primary caregiver before your child can be contacted or contact that person on his or her Pinwheel device. Your child cannot dial random numbers. Also, contacts can be the grouped however your family pleases, i.e. “Smith Family” “School Buddy” “Soccer teammate.”

    Messages(6+) -Messages are similar to the phone. You have the option to see who your child is talking to and the ability to read their conversations. Please note, this feature and its use is a decision between your family. You know your child best!

    Camera (6+) - The rear camera contains a 12.2 MP dual-pixel. It has a 1.4μm pixel width along with autofocus and dual pixel phase detection. The front camera is 8MP with 1.12μm pixel width. Both cameras have video mode as well.

    Wallet (6+) - Pinwheel’s very own mobile app made for children to learn how to manage their money. Your kid can create savings goals, move money towards those goals, and see the progress they make. Caregivers can also create jobs for their children through which they can earn money. Later on, kids can move that earned money towards their savings goals or withdraw it from their parents.

    -Equipment: phone only, or basic and advanced materials

    FlipaClip allows your child to create powerful and fun frame-by-frame animations. You can also set background music to your sketches and storyboards. Note, this app is a little more advanced than some of the other Creative Skills apps, but still great to use.

    Yousician is a really fun app that teaches your kid to play either guitar, ukulele, or how to sing. The app has lessons and exercises from expert music teachers and supplies instant feedback for your child.

    This app teaches and trains your ear to develop relative pitch and tests your music theory knowledge. Imagine a tuning fork or maestro right in front of your child to help them practice their instrument correctly instead of practicing their mistakes.

    Similar to the apps listed above, but more specific to pianos. The app is to be used in conjunction with any piano or keyboard. Piano Maestro helps your child master sight-reading, using both hands, and is a fun learning experience.

    133t contains the top basketball training videos available on YouTube. They are categorized and organized for your child. Furthermore, 133t can be used while you’re kid is on an inside or outside basketball court, but also in your driveway or on the street.

    USA Baseball Mobile Coach is a tool that aims to simplify practice planning for baseball coaches and dads. Yes, we’re talking to you baseball dads! Not only does this help you and your son or daughter create practice plans, but there are specific drills and videos to watch and practice together.

    Similar to the baseball app, but better suited for those in the midwest or northeast. Again, you and your kid can browse skills and watch video drills to practice later on.

    The app, streetkickers, is for all the children wanting to be the next Messi, or for you parents, Pele. The app includes a virtual soccer coach and gives you access to professional soccer training content and personalized practice plans.

    BASIQs Baseball’s purpose is to help develop your “game IQ.” Meaning, there are thousands of animated situations and other questions to go through. Your son or daughter will receive feedback as if a real in-person coach were there.
