    The Healthy App List

    Core Apps

    These are the apps we feel should always be available, as long as their exact use is restricted by mode-switching (e.g. night mode).

    Contacts - Contacts must be approved by parents or the primary caregiver before your child can be contacted or contact that person on his or her Pinwheel device. Your child cannot dial random numbers. Also, contacts can be the grouped however your family pleases, i.e. “Smith Family,” “School Buddies,” “Soccer Teammates.”

    Messages-Messages are similar to the phone. You have the option to see who your child is talking to and the ability to read their conversations. Please note, this feature and its use is a decision between your family. You know your child best!

    Clock  -Clock combines all of the functionality you need into one simple easy-to-use package. Set alarms, add timers, and run a stopwatch.

    Camera  - The rear camera contains a 12.2 MP dual-pixel. It has a 1.4m pixel width along with autofocus and dual pixel phase detection. The front camera is 8MP with 1.12m pixel width. Both cameras have video mode as well.

    Gallery Go- A smart, light and fast photo and video gallery to give your child a place to store photos, videos, and art.

    Apple Music - Apple music has over 60 million songs available from the Apple Music catalog, and allows kids to follow along to their favorite songs with time-synced lyrics. Kids can create their own playlists and get personalized mixes and daily recommendations based on the music they already love.

    Amazon Music -Amazon Music is ad-free and offline listening. Its unlimited skips are a great way to discover new artists and songs.

    Spotify -With Spotify, you can play millions of songs and podcasts for free. Listen to the songs and podcasts you love and find music from all over the world. Discover new artists, albums, and podcasts. Kids can make their own playlists and find music for their mood or an activity.

    Pinna  - Pinna is an ad-free screen-free audio entertainment app custom-made for kids aged 3-12 with new content added daily.

    Musicolet  - This app plays only local audio files (mp3 etc) that you already have. This app does not support music streaming or downloading. As this app doesn't have internet permission, It can't have any feature that uses internet..

    Audible -Audible has the world’s largest selection of audiobooks.Audible is a great way to read and listen to books at the same time. Available kids stories and audio books include classics, bedtime stories, bible stories and more to entertain your children.

    Pandora -Pandora allows kids to create stations from their favorite songs, artists or genres. Kids will enjoy their own personalized music experience, with modes and stations that adjust to their ts

    Communication

    Zello: PTT Walkie Talkie  -Using Zello, you and your children can turn your phone or tablet into a walkie talkie with a push-to-talk radio function. Zello works over WIFI, 2G, 3G, or 4G mobile data, and is a helpful app for emergency situations, or for simply playing around the house or in the backyard.

    Gizmo Hub -For families with a Gizmo kids watch. The GizmoHub app lets kids call and find Gizmo wearable devices. Once they’re set up, they can use the app to speak with siblings or friends!

    Marco Polo - Stay in Touch -Marco Polo combines the best of texting, social media and video chats - all in one private, easy to use app.

    Messenger Kids - A messenger app made for kids and controlled by parents. Facebook's messenger kids allows you to manage your kids' contact list, monitor messages, and set usage limits when it’s bedtime. Messenger kids is a good option for kids that want to message their friends that don't yet have phone numbers, and do so with fun filters, stickers, and GIFs.

    Google Duo - Google Duo is a simple, reliable, video calling app that allows your children to stay connected wherever you go. Kids can use Google Duo to start or join a call with family or friends through face-to-face video!

    Learning

    Classe365 -For families whose school district use Classe365 as their learning management system. Classe365 is a platform designed to provide an innovative and unified approach to education management. The mobile app is a complementary application to the online Classe365 web application, which enablesteachers to effectively manage their class' day-to day requirements - from administration, learning and communication.

    Canvas Student -This app allows you to access your Canvas courses on the go with the canvas Student mobile app.

    Seesaw - For families whose school district use Seesaw as their learning management system. Seesaw is astudent-driven digital portfolio app that inspires your student to do their best work, and is used by teachers in over 200,000 classrooms and 1 out of 2 schools in the US.

    Prodigy Math Game -Math practice used to be a struggle — but not anymore. Prodigy, a no-cost math game that’s loved by over a million teachers and 50 million students around the world, is using game-based learning to transform education.

    PupilPath -For families whose school district use PupilPath as their learning management system. PupilPath allows parents, teachers, and students to have instant access to their child’s class performance information on the go, including up-to-date classroom progress, attendance live as it is taken, grades and status of assignments and exams, assignment due dates and descriptions, student GPA and averages in class grading categories, report card grades, and daily schedules.

    Khan Academy -Khan Academy is used by thousands of kids and adults. You’re kid isn’t ready to start preparing for standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, or LSAT AND MCAT. However, they can still use Khan Academy to sharpen their basic problem solving skills and stage-appropriate school problems.

    ScratchJr. -Allows kids to create their own stories with fun pictures, backgrounds and settings, and actions. Children can modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, even insert photos of themselves -- then use the programming blocks to make their characters come to life.

    Google Classroom  -Classroom is a free app for schools, non-profits, and anyone with a Google account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect—inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.

    Duolingo  -Duolingo is a great app to help kids learn a new language. It helps them practice speaking, reading, listening, and writing to build their vocabulary and grammar skills. There are35+ languages available to learn, and it is a great opportunity to practice and learn along with your child.

    Learning Ally Audiobooks  -This app provides access to Learning Ally’s library of human-read audiobooks, offering an extensive selection of books students want and need to read, including bestsellers, classic literature and textbooks. Now students have interactive learning tools geared to help them succeed, including highlighted text synced with the audio narration, speed control, bookmarking, highlighting, and note taking.

    Skyward  -Skyward Mobile Access provides intuitive access for students, parents, and school staff that currently use Skyward’s Family Access, Student Access, Educator Access, or Employee Access. Skyward Mobile Access will automatically locate your district and take you instantly to your vital information such as grades, attendance, discipline, payroll, time off, and more!

    ABCya!  -ABCYa! is an app that you can subscribe to that will give your children 6 educational games each week. There are over 300 games with the paid subscription.

    Zoom - Zoom is a video conferencing app that allows kids to start or join a secure meeting with flawless video and audio, instant screen sharing, and cross-platform chat in-meeting.

    Creative Skills (Art & Music)

    Perfect Ear  -Perfect Ear helps beginners learn how to identify melodies by ear and how to sight read music. Your kid can either practice pre-set ear training exercises or create their own customizable rhythm and pattern sessions.

    Mussila  -Mussila provides hours of musical lessons, challenges and games carefully crafted for musical experts and educators for your child to learn. The app is great for beginners by helping them progress through notes and tempos. It also teaches them to read music in a constructive manner.

    Canva  -Canva makes design and video editing amazingly simple and fun for kids. Yousician includes step-by-step video tutorials and a plethora of popular songs to choose from.
